I'm trying to configure the live shipping options.  Can someone point me to what the "meter number" is for Federal Express, and how one determines what their meter number is? (Search results for "meter number" on fedex.com (I've gotten as far as my username, password, account number click "test settings" it returns an authentication failed error.  I can log in on www.fedex.com (myfedex, online shipping) successfully.)

Thank you!

Okay, so I talked to FedEx today and to get a meter number they had me go to http://www.fedex.com/developer; login on the left hand side with my standard "myfedex" credentials.

There are some acknowledgements and agreements to click on at different points in the process here. One is only presented with these items once which makes it a little more difficult to document the process after the fact for this forum.

Click "Get Started with FedEx Web Services Technical Resources now";
Click "Move to Production" (lower right);
Scroll to the bottom and click on "Obtain Production Key"
Complete the form
Select no for "intending to resell your software"
Select FedEx Web Services for Shipping
Select Corporate Developer
Click Continue, finish filling out the forms/agreements.

Finally it will come to a screen that will have your Key and your Meter Number. Make certain you print, copy, screen capture this Key.   It will not be included in the email that has your password.   Oh, yeah, it's a mile long, alphanumeric mixed case.

Okay - so I figured out this much to get my meter number, I've entered the Key I was provided and the password from the email, my account number, etc in the fields for the shipping configuration in my fulfillment center, clicked "test settings" and [insert sound effects here] authentication failed.

SOOOO -- the question for the Happy DecoNetwork Support people is -- are these the appropriate steps to get a key, password, and meter number for the FedEx live shipping setup? Is there something else?

There is a nice step by step guide for what we need to do to get the USPS shipping setup (and the Postal service even replied to my email (from Saturday) requesting move to the production servers by mid-day today (Monday) WOW!) Would it be possible to get something similar to help us navigate the FedEx side of things?

Thank you very much!

FedEx Saga -- Day 3

Talked to Mietek earlier today, looks like one must get a test key, then the production key.  The previous instructions from FedEx had me skip obtaining the test key.

Fedex Instruction:

To get a Meter Number for your account, sign up here:
http://www.fedex.com/us/developer/

FedEx will then send you an email acknowledging your registration. Follow the link and login to their developer site, then proceed to here:
https://www.fedex.com/wpor/web/jsp/...velop.html
to get your test password and key. Then go here:
https://www.fedex.com/wpor/web/jsp/...ction.html
to get your production key.

Now that I have procured a test key (which I didn't do anything with at all) and then a new production key immediately after receiving the email with the the test email.  I have entered these new credentials into Fulfillment Settings -> Setup Shipping Methods -> Add Live Shipping Method.

I get a "successful" message when I click Test Settings.  However, I'm not to a fully functional FedEx shipping method yet.  A few minutes later I received an email from DecoNetwork indicating there was a problem with the FedEx method.  The issues log within the fulfillment center has the following:

10-Mar-10 10:05 - Live shipping Errors

One or more live shipping methods reported errors. Please make sure your address settings of your account are correct.

Solution

Fix this issue according to the error messages below:

FedEx
Authentication Failed

Called FedEx - they want to know the URL the API is pointing to (which of course we don't have visibility to) (given the Authentication Failed part of the message);   I'm curious about the "make sure your address settings of your account are correct"?  Is there some sort of address validation going on between FedEx & DecoNetwork?  FedEx has the same physical address as my Fulfillment center and I do have a different address listed with FedEx just for billing.

Can anyone help me get this resolved?  Please.

Hi Ruth Ann,
I went on your site and was able to choose fedex shipping method during the checkout, it means it works. One of the reasons why you could receive some errors is because some of your products may not have all of the dimensions defined. In order to use live shipping method, the product has to have all of the dimensions specified (length, width, height, weight).

Regard the authentication issue. Can you change your address on the same one you are using in DecoNetwork. Also, is this still occurs on your site and and affect your site in any way? If you refer only to the issues in the left-upper corner they sometimes stayed there even though the issue is resolved and you will have to remove the manually.

Best Regards,
Mietek
