- Click on the page name at the left of the page tab.
- Click on the Advanced Settings link in the Page Settings Bar.
- Click on the Meta Tags tab.
- Un-tick the Override Default checkbox for the meta tag you want to edit.
- Enter the data for each of the meta tags:
-
Page title: This title will appear in the browser tab and breadcrumb navigation. It will also appear in the search engine results. (The name of your store will be appended to the end of the page title).
- Meta keywords: A series of keywords that indicate what the topic of the page is. Separate the meta keywords with a comma (,).
- Meta description: A brief description of the page. Search engines display this description in search results to let potential visitors know what your page is about. Meta descriptions can be any length, but search engines generally truncate the description to 160 characters, including spaces.
-
Meta Index - Prevent search engines from indexing this page: This option lets you choose whether or not you want search engines to include the current page in search results and follow the links on your page.
Ticking the checkbox will include a "noindex" and a "nofollow" meta tag in the page's HTML code to prevent your page from appearing in the search engine's search results and to prevent links on your page from being followed.
Noindex is useful for preventing duplicate content, for directing traffic to relevant pages and keeping unimportant pages from coming up in the search results for your site, such as shopping cart or checkout pages. Nofollow prevents off-topic links from being followed, such as links in comments, paid links, links in guest posts, and other content that you don’t control.
