When a Shopify store is integrated with a DecoNetwork (DN) affiliate store, DN automatically captures the customer data from Shopify to ensure that information is accurate and current. The management of customer data is streamlined by automating the creation and updating of customer records in the DN affiliate store. This automation enhances order processing, facilitates smooth customer communication, and maintains a cohesive and efficient workflow, providing a superior customer experience.
Handling New Customers
When a new order is submitted from Shopify, DN extracts the customer details to create or update customer records in the affiliate store. The system uses the email address as the unique identifier to determine if the customer is a new or existing customer. The following key customer details are obtained from Shopify orders:
- Customer Name
- Customer Email Address
- Billing Name and Address
- Delivery Name and Address
- Telephone Number
When this data is received, DN automatically creates a new contact record if the customer does not already exist.
Managing Existing Customers
Data is efficiently managed with the updating of customer records for existing customers using details from new orders. If a customer record with a matching email address is detected, the record is overwritten with any new data. Existing fields will be updated with the new information and any changes to the billing and delivery address will be updated in the existing contact record to ensure that the customer data is accurate and current.
Communication Handling
A shipping confirmation will automatically be sent by DN to the customer if the Notify Customer When Shipped option has been ticked when processing an order for fulfillment. When the order status is updated to "Shipped", an email will be sent to the customer. All other customer communications are handled by Shopify. These communications are not automatically transferred to DN. While it is possible to send emails to customers from DN, they will not be transferred to Shopify.
