In the Store Signup page, accessed via the PAGES tab of the Website Editor under SYSTEM PAGES, you can configure the settings of the Store Signup form, the form customers use to register a new account on your store. These settings control the panel title, field hints, and reCaptcha protection, and they're retained by the system so the Store Signup page continues to behave the way you configured it every time a customer visits it to create an account.

Why use this feature?
The Store Signup form is the first interaction many customers have with your store when creating an account, so how it's configured affects both first impressions and account security. Configuring these settings lets you:
- Give the signup panel a title that matches your store's branding instead of the default label.
- Reduce failed signups by showing formatting hints under each field, so customers enter details correctly the first time.
- Add reCaptcha protection to the signup form to reduce bot and spam account creation, even if your Fulfillment Center hasn't required it store-wide.
- Require customers to explicitly accept your affiliate agreement before their store is created, keeping affiliate store onboarding consistent with how standard terms and conditions are handled elsewhere.
Because these settings are retained with the page, they apply automatically every time the Store Signup form is displayed. You don't need to reconfigure anything after the initial setup.
Step 1: Open the Store Signup Settings
-
Click on the PAGES button in the Website Editor Toolbar.

Step 2: Configure the Store Signup Settings
-
In the Store Signup Settings popup, configure the following options:
- Panel title: lets you enter a new title for the Store Signup form.
- Show Hints: when ticked, instructions about the formatting required are displayed below each field, helping customers complete the form correctly.
- Override Captcha: tick this checkbox to override the "Require reCaptcha on all store signup pages" option set by the Fulfillment Center under Admin → Websites → Store Options.
- Show Captcha: when ticked, the reCaptcha tool is displayed at the bottom of the Signup form to protect against bots and spammers.
- Show Affiliate Agreement Terms: when ticked, displays a checkbox on the Signup form labeled "I agree to the affiliate terms of this website," linking directly to your site's affiliate agreement page. New Store Signup widgets have this setting enabled by default.

Show Captcha is only enabled once Override Captcha is ticked. If Override Captcha is left unticked, the store's Fulfillment Center-level captcha setting under Admin → Websites → Store Options continues to apply instead. - Once your settings are configured, click OK.
Step 3: Save and publish your changes
- Click the Save button in the Page Settings Bar.
- Click the Publish button to the right of the Page Settings Bar.
Best Practices
- Keep the panel title short and consistent with your store's branding so it reads naturally alongside the rest of the signup page.
- Enable Show Hints on stores with less experienced customers to reduce failed submissions and support requests caused by incorrectly formatted fields.
- Enable Override Captcha and Show Captcha if you're seeing spam or bot account creation, even if your Fulfillment Center hasn't required captcha store-wide.
- Always click Save and then Publish together. Saving alone does not push changes to the live storefront.
- If you use Show Affiliate Agreement Terms, keep your affiliate agreement page up to date. Customers see and link to it directly from the Signup form before they can create a store.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The Show Captcha checkbox is greyed out and can't be ticked. | Override Captcha hasn't been ticked yet. | Tick Override Captcha first, then tick Show Captcha. |
| Changes made in the Store Signup Settings popup don't appear on the live store. | The page was saved but not published. | Click Save, then click Publish in the Page Settings Bar. |
| Store Signup Settings doesn't appear in the widget drop-down menu. | You're hovering over the wrong widget, or you don't have Admin access. | Confirm you're hovering directly over the Store Signup form widget and that your account has Admin access. |
| A customer submits the Signup form but their store isn't created. | Show Affiliate Agreement Terms is enabled and the customer didn't tick the agreement checkbox. | The checkbox must be ticked before a store can be created. Ask the customer to review the affiliate agreement, tick the checkbox, and resubmit the form. |
| The Store Signup widget is missing from the Store Signup page. | The widget was accidentally removed from the page. | Reload the page. The widget is automatically restored, the same way the Request a Quote widget is restored if it's removed. |
FAQs
Does ticking Override Captcha change the Fulfillment Center's store-wide captcha setting?
No. Override Captcha only changes captcha behavior for this Store Signup page. The Fulfillment Center's "Require reCaptcha on all store signup pages" setting under Admin → Websites → Store Options is unaffected.
What happens if I leave Override Captcha unticked?
The Store Signup page follows the Fulfillment Center's store-wide captcha setting instead of its own.
Do I need to enable both Override Captcha and Show Captcha to display reCaptcha?
Yes. Show Captcha can only be ticked once Override Captcha is enabled.
Is the Panel title setting specific to this store, or does it apply globally?
It applies to the Store Signup page of the store you're editing in the Website Editor.
Is Show Affiliate Agreement Terms enabled by default?
It's enabled by default for new Store Signup widget instances. Widgets that were added to a page before this setting existed may need it enabled manually.
What happens if a customer doesn't tick the affiliate agreement checkbox?
Their store isn't created until the checkbox is ticked, keeping account creation consistent with your affiliate agreement.
Does the affiliate agreement checkbox work on all themes?
No. Show Affiliate Agreement Terms is only available on websites running Theme V3.
