The View Cart page controls how your Shopping Cart looks and behaves before a customer moves into Checkout. In the Website Editor, under PAGES → Checkout → View Cart, you can configure how products are displayed, where the order summary sits, which buttons appear, and how coupons and gift certificates are presented. These settings are retained by the system and used every time a customer views their cart, so getting them right helps carts feel clear and encourages customers to continue through to Checkout.

Prerequisites
- You must have access to the Website Editor.
- Your store's Checkout system pages must already exist (these are created automatically with your store).
Why use this feature?
The View Cart page is where a customer reviews what they're about to buy before continuing to Checkout, so how it's configured has a direct effect on conversion and on how customers understand their order.
- Choosing a Table or Condensed layout controls how much product detail customers see before they check out.
- Order summary placement and headers affect how clearly totals are communicated.
- Checkout button placement and labelling influence how easily customers move forward in the workflow.
- Coupon and gift certificate display settings determine how customers apply discounts, which affects order totals carried into Checkout.
Because these settings are retained by the system, they apply consistently to every cart view until changed again.
Step 1: Open the View Cart Settings
Click on the PAGES button in the Website Editor Toolbar.
The PAGES tab in the Website Editor Toolbar

-
- Once your options are set, click OK to apply them to the View Cart widget.
Step 3: Save and publish your changes
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Publish button at the right of the Page Settings Bar.
Publishing makes the updated View Cart layout and settings live on your storefront, so customers see the new cart experience immediately and it carries through into the Checkout workflow.
Changes to View Cart Settings are not visible to customers until you click Publish. Saving alone only stores the changes in the editor.
Best Practices
- Use Table display for stores with detailed product options, and Condensed display for a simpler, more compact cart.
- Show a Checkout button both above and below the product listing on longer carts, so customers can proceed without scrolling back up.
- Keep the Checkout Button Label clear and action-oriented (for example, "Checkout" or "Proceed to Checkout") to reduce hesitation at this stage.
- Display coupon and gift certificate fields in the Order Summary if you want totals and discounts reviewed together, improving clarity before customers continue.
- Preview the View Cart page after publishing to confirm the layout matches your intended customer experience.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Changes made in View Cart Settings aren't visible on the live store.
Cause: The changes were saved but not published.
Solution: Return to the View Cart page, click Save, then click Publish at the right of the Page Settings Bar.
Problem: Column headers aren't showing for products or the order summary.
Cause: Column headers only display when Products Display is set to Table.
Solution: Set Products Display to Table, then enable Products Column Headers and/or Order Summary Header as needed.
Problem: Customers can't find where to enter a coupon code.
Cause: The Coupons & Gift Certificates placement may not match where customers are looking on the page.
Solution: Adjust the Coupons & Gift Certificates setting to display fields In Order Summary or Below products, depending on your cart layout.
FAQs
Do I need to configure the View Cart page separately from Checkout?
Yes. The View Cart page is a distinct system page from the other Checkout pages, and its settings only control the Shopping Cart view.
Will these settings affect the mobile version of my store?
The View Cart widget settings apply across your storefront, so layout choices such as Table versus Condensed display should be considered with mobile visitors in mind.
Can I show the Checkout button in more than one position?
Yes. Checkout Button Above and Checkout Button Below are independent settings, so you can show the button in both positions at once.
What happens if I change these settings after my store is live?
Nothing changes for customers until you click Publish. Once published, the updated cart layout applies immediately to all new cart views.
