Managing relationships with key contacts within client organizations is essential for effective communication and service delivery. DecoNetwork makes this straightforward, letting you maintain company profiles with detailed contact information.
A Company in DecoNetwork's Business Hub represents a business account you've registered. You can add multiple contacts to a Company, which helps manage different points of communication and responsibility within a client organization. This article walks through adding company contacts from the Company profile page in Business Hub. (For instructions on adding a Company itself, click here.)

Why use this feature?
Linking customer records to a Company keeps every order, quote, and communication tied to the right business account instead of scattered across individual customer profiles. Once a contact is added to a Company, their billing address, order history, and quotes roll up to that Company automatically, and any staff member can see the full picture of who's ordering on the account's behalf.
- Keep multiple points of contact for one client organization under a single Company record
- Apply the Company's billing address to contacts automatically
- Track orders and quotes against the Company rather than losing them across separate customer records
- Make it clear at a glance, wherever a contact's name appears, which Company they belong to
Add an Existing Contact to a Company
- Log into your DecoNetwork website.
-
Browse to Business Hub → Companies.
The Companies menu item under Business Hub.
-
Click View to open the Company account you want to add contacts to.
The View link on a Company's row in the Companies list.
You can also click anywhere within a Company's row to open it. -
Click Add Contact next to the Contacts section heading.
The Add Contact link in the Contacts section of a Company record.
The Add Existing Customer to Company confirmation popup is displayed.

-
Click OK to proceed.
The Add Existing Customer to Company selection popup is displayed.
The Add Existing Customer to Company selection popup.
-
Click the select customer field and choose a customer from the dropdown list.
The customer selection dropdown list.
Each customer record can belong to only one Company at a time. If the customer you select is already linked to a different Company, DecoNetwork rejects the request:
"This customer has already been added to a company. You cannot add them again."
If a person needs to purchase on behalf of more than one Company, create a separate customer record per Company instead. See Import customers for how duplicate email addresses are handled when creating those records.
-
Click OK.
Once a customer is added as a contact, they automatically inherit the Company's billing address, though they can still have their own individual shipping address.
The customer's name also gains the label "Customer Contact" wherever it appears in DecoNetwork, and their Company name becomes a clickable link that opens the Company record. If the Company name isn't a clickable link, the customer hasn't been properly assigned to a Company, or the Company hasn't been added as an official record through the Companies page.
Add a New Contact to a Company
- Log into your DecoNetwork website.
-
Browse to Business Hub → Companies.
The Companies menu item under Business Hub.
-
Click View to open the Company account you want to add contacts to.

You can also click anywhere within a Company's row to open it. -
Click Create Contact next to the Contacts section heading.

The New Company Contact popup is displayed.

-
Enter the details for the contact.
You can define and set the fields available in the New Company Contact form. See configuring customer fields for instructions. - Click OK.
Best Practices
- Check which Company a customer already belongs to before adding them to a different one. Each customer record can only belong to one Company at a time, so adding them elsewhere is rejected.
- Use Add Existing Customer to Company for people who already have a customer record, and Create Contact only for people who don't. Creating a duplicate record for someone who already exists makes it harder to track their order history in one place.
- If one person genuinely needs to purchase on behalf of more than one Company, set up a separate customer record per Company rather than trying to link one record to both.
- Review a newly added contact's billing address, and set an individual shipping address if they ship to a different location than the Company.
- If you're already viewing a customer record rather than a Company record, add them to a Company directly from the Customer page instead. See Add new company contact.
Troubleshooting
Problem: DecoNetwork rejects a customer with "This customer has already been added to a company. You cannot add them again."
Cause: The customer record is already linked to a different Company. Each customer can only belong to one Company at a time.
Solution: If the customer genuinely needs to purchase on behalf of more than one Company, create a separate customer record for them under the new Company instead of trying to link the existing record.
Problem: A contact's Company name doesn't appear as a clickable link.
Cause: The customer hasn't been properly assigned to a Company, or the Company hasn't been added as an official record through the Companies page.
Solution: Confirm the Company exists under Business Hub → Companies, then re-add the contact using Add Contact or Create Contact from that Company's record.
Problem: The New Company Contact form doesn't show a field you expect.
Cause: The field isn't configured as visible for that form in your customer field settings.
Solution: Check the field's visibility settings under configuring customer fields, and enable it for the New Company Contact form.
FAQs
Q: Can one customer be a contact on more than one Company?
A: No. A customer record can only belong to one Company at a time. Attempting to add an already-linked customer to a second Company returns "This customer has already been added to a company. You cannot add them again." If a person needs to purchase on behalf of more than one Company, use a separate customer record per Company.
Q: What happens to a contact's billing and shipping address when they're added to a Company?
A: The contact automatically inherits the Company's billing address. They can still be given their own individual shipping address.
Q: Where does the "Customer Contact" label next to a customer's name come from?
A: DecoNetwork adds it automatically, wherever the customer's name appears, once they're linked to a Company.
Q: Can I add a contact to a Company from the customer's own record instead of the Company's record?
A: Yes. See Add new company contact for instructions on assigning a customer to a Company directly from the Customer page.
