Prerequisites
- MFA must be enabled for customer accounts by the Fulfillment Center.
- The customer must have an authenticator app installed (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy).
Why customers need to complete MFA setup
Customers complete MFA setup once so they can securely access their DecoNetwork account. After setup, they will need a one-time code from their authenticator app every time they log in.
- Protects account security: Even if a password is stolen, access requires a time-based code.
- Prevents unauthorized purchases: Only the account owner can log in.
- Reduces support load: Customers manage their own codes without needing password resets.
When this applies
- The customer is logging into your DecoNetwork storefront for the first time after MFA has been turned on.
What customers will need
- Their email address and password.
- An authenticator app on their smartphone or device.
Step 1: Log In Normally
- Go to your storefront's login page.
- Enter your email address and password.
-
Click Login.
You will then be prompted to complete MFA setup.
Step 2: Set Up Your Authenticator App
- Open your Authenticator app on your device.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the screen, or manually enter the Setup Key shown above it.
- The app will begin generating 6-digit time-based codes.
-
Enter the current code displayed in your app to complete the login process.
⚠️ The QR code and Setup Key are shown only once – customers must complete the setup during this session.
Step 3: Login with MFA on Future Sessions
After the initial setup, MFA will be required each time the customer logs in.
- Go to the login page of your DecoNetwork store.
- Enter your email address and password, then click Login.
- When prompted, open your Authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator).
- Enter the current 6-digit code from the app.
- Click Login to access your account.
- The code refreshes every 30 seconds. Make sure to enter it before it expires.
- You must have access to your device with the Authenticator app each time you log in.
Best-practice tips for customers
- Make sure your device time is set automatically – incorrect time can cause MFA codes to fail.
- Keep a backup method (e.g., secure device backup or app transfer) for when switching devices.
- Always complete MFA setup immediately – closing the browser will require restarting the process.
Troubleshooting
If a customer loses access to their authenticator app, they can click Reset Setup Key on the MFA prompt screen. A secure reset link will be emailed to them, allowing them to configure a new authenticator app.
