Teamname Feature: Automating Player Name & Number Personalization in Bulk Orders

The Teamnames feature lets you add a paired player name and number to products in a single, streamlined workflow - perfect for team jerseys, uniforms, school groups, and bulk orders. Enable the option for your chosen decoration process, then enter names and numbers once and apply consistent font, size, and positioning across every item.

Prerequisites

Why use Teamnames

• Consistency: Apply the same font, size, color, and position to all items in a team order.
• Speed: Enter names and numbers once; the layout propagates to each item automatically.
• Fewer errors: Reduce manual rework and misalignment across sizes and styles.
• Scales to groups: Built for clubs, schools, leagues, and corporate teams.

Enable Teamnames in Admin

1. Go to Admin → Decoration Processes and select the process you’ll use (e.g., DTG Printing, Transfer, etc.).

   

   Open the decoration process you want to enable for Teamnames

2. Open Designer Settings for that process.

   

   Designer settings control what customers and staff can add in the Designer

3. Enable Allow team names to be added, then Save.

   

   Turn on Teamnames for this decoration process

4. (Optional) To clarify the UI, go to Admin → Websites → Global Designer Settings and customize the Team Name Options labels (e.g., rename it to “Player Name & Number”).

Configure Teamnames in the Designer

1. Open a product in the Designer and click Add Team Name.

   

   Start the Teamnames workflow from the Designer toolbar.

2. If prompted, choose the decoration process to use for the team name text (only eligible processes are listed).

   

   Select type of team name

3. Specify quantities per size (e.g., S:10, M:15, L:8). Continue to the Teamnames editor.

   

   Declare how many items you need for each size

4. In Edit Teamnames, enter each Name and Number. Use the View column to preview a row on the product.

   

   Enter player names and numbers. Select a row to preview its layout.

5. Click OK. The Designer places two text areas (name + number). Adjust font, size, color, and position as needed.

   Changes to the teamname text areas (position, font, size, effects) apply consistently to all items in the team group.

6. To update entries, select a teamname text area and choose Edit teamnames to reopen the editor.

7. Preview the design, then proceed to save or order as usual.

Production & Fulfillment Settings

For bulk orders, configure how artwork is generated for team orders. 

1. In the relevant decoration process, select Production Settings and check the output formate options for Teamnames.

   Options include:

   • One file per teamname — separate artwork for each name/number.
   • One file with static background + overlay per teamname — common artwork plus individual overlays.
   • One file with static background + CSV — background artwork and a CSV list of names/numbers for manual or automated workflows.

Best-Practice Tips

• Check across sizes: Use the View column to preview S through 3XL and confirm consistent placement.
• Keep numbers bold and legible: Use fonts designed for sports numerals; ensure contrast with garment color.
• Template once, reuse often: Save a layout template for recurring teams or leagues.
• Customer personalization: If customers can enter names/numbers themselves, apply sensible constraints (max chars, width) to preserve layout.

Troubleshooting

• “Add Team Name” not visible: Verify the product allows a process where Allow team names to be added is enabled.
• Text misaligned on small sizes: Reduce font size; re-preview each size.
• Production files not grouped as expected: Adjust the Teamnames output mode in Production Settings.
• Embroidery/Screen print limits: Some configurations may not support the Teamnames workflow; confirm your process capabilities.

FAQs

• Can I have different fonts for the name and number? Yes. Configure each text area’s styling; the settings apply consistently across the team group.
• Can I change one player’s layout without affecting others? Teamnames are designed for uniformity. Edits to layout/format affect the entire group.
• Can customers input their own names and numbers? Yes—allow team names to be added in the store-front designer.
• Does this work on every product? The product must have a suitable decoration area and use an enabled decoration process.
