Designer Settings let you control what customers and staff can do in the Online Designer for each decoration method. By configuring these settings individually for screen printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF, sublimation, and other decoration methods, you can ensure the design tools match the capabilities and limitations of each production process.
For example, you may allow unrestricted image editing for DTG printing while limiting colors and overlapping objects for embroidery. These settings help prevent unsupported artwork from being created while providing the best possible design experience.

Prerequisites
- You must have Administrator access.
- At least one decoration method must already be configured.
Why configure Designer Settings?
Configuring Designer Settings allows you to:
- Control which design features are available for each decoration method.
- Enable or disable design capabilities for customers and staff independently.
- Prevent users from creating artwork that cannot be produced.
- Tailor the Online Designer to match the capabilities of each production process.
- Create a simpler, more intuitive design experience by hiding unnecessary tools.
Access Designer Settings
- Log in as an Administrator.
- Go to Admin > Decoration Processes.
- Select the decoration method you want to configure.
-
Click Designer Settings.
Open the Designer Settings for the decoration method you want to customize
Configure General Designer Options
The upper section of Designer Settings controls which design features are available for the selected decoration method.
You can enable or disable features such as:
- Adding text
- Team names and numbering
- Stock designs
- Customer image uploads
For many options, you can also choose where the feature is available:
- Webstores – when customers design products online.
- Business Hub – when staff create quotes and orders.

Configure Advanced Text and Image Settings
The lower section contains advanced controls for text and image editing.
Depending on the decoration method, you can control options such as:
- Gradient fills
- Image resizing
- Image effects
- Other advanced editing capabilities
These options allow you to limit editing features that are unsuitable for certain production methods while leaving them available for processes that support them.
Enable only the advanced editing features appropriate for the decoration method.
Configure Decoration Method-Specific Options
Some decoration methods include additional settings that are unique to that production process.
DTG (Direct-to-Garment)
DTG is a full-color printing process, so it typically supports a wider range of design capabilities with fewer restrictions.
Embroidery
Embroidery includes controls for production-specific limitations, such as:
- Allowing or preventing overlapping objects.
- Limiting the number of colors in a design.
Screen Printing
Screen Printing includes controls for white underbase behavior. You can choose whether an underbase is generated for:
- Light and dark garments only.
- All garment colors, including white.
- Or disable the option entirely if your production process always uses an underbase.
Additional options vary depending on the selected decoration method.
Best Practices
- Review Designer Settings individually for every decoration method rather than using the same configuration for all processes.
- Restrict editing features that your production process cannot reproduce accurately.
- Allow more creative flexibility for full-color printing methods such as DTG where appropriate.
- Limit embroidery options to match your digitizing and production capabilities.
- Test the Online Designer after making changes to ensure the customer experience matches your expectations.
Troubleshooting
Customers cannot use a design feature
Verify that the feature is enabled for both the selected decoration method and the location where it is being used (Webstore or Business Hub).
Different decoration methods behave differently
This is expected. Each decoration method has its own Designer Settings and may include unique production-specific options.
Advanced editing tools are unavailable
Check the Advanced Text and Image Settings section to confirm the required editing options have been enabled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Designer Settings apply to every decoration method?
No. Each decoration method has its own independent Designer Settings.
Can I allow a feature in Business Hub but not on my webstore?
Yes. Many options let you specify whether they are available in the customer-facing Online Designer, Business Hub, or both.
Why do embroidery and DTG have different options?
Each decoration method has settings that reflect its production capabilities and limitations. Some options are only relevant to specific decoration methods.
Should every decoration method use the same Designer Settings?
No. Configure each decoration method according to its production requirements to ensure customers can only create designs that can be successfully produced.
