Improvements to tax notice display
Under ConsiderationThanks for the new tax settings update, but unfortunately it hasn't been thought through fully.
While it's good that we can now have different sites showing prices with and without tax, how you are doing it, isn't great.
For sites now showing prices with tax, you show those products with a * next to the price and the tax notice isn't shown next to the price, but below the add to cart box. For items that are tax exempt (kids clothing etc), then there is of course no *, but the tax notice still displays the same. It's very backward and confusing for the end user. You have to spoon feed the end user and if in doubt, treat them like they are illiterate/a bit dense.
How the system should work is:
For sites that don't include tax in the prices shown, you should show a tax notice of "Prices exclude vat" and this should be shown either next to or directly below the unit price.
For sites that show prices including tax, then you need two different tax notices. Firstly for those products that attract tax, the tax notice of "Prices include vat" needs to be shown either next to or directly below the unit price. Likewise for products that are exempt from tax, a tax notice isn't required.
At the minute although it's a step in the right direction, it's not working like it needs to. I presume it's just because of how in the UK we deal with tax compared to the states, but these changes would benefit everyone using Deco over here.
