Coupons and Free delivery to be based on final Cart Value including Tax.

We would like DecoNetwork to introduce the option for coupon thresholds, voucher promotions and free-delivery thresholds to be calculated using the final cart value including applicable taxes/VAT, rather than only using the pre-tax value of the order.

For UK retailers, the price presented to a consumer is normally the VAT-inclusive price. This is the value the customer understands themselves to be spending.

For example, if we advertise:

“Spend £80 and receive 10% off”

or

“Free delivery when you spend £80”

a customer whose basket displays a total of £82 including VAT reasonably expects to have qualified for that promotion.

Under the current DecoNetwork calculation, the system can instead assess the basket value before VAT. This means a customer can see that they have spent more than the advertised £80 threshold but still be told that they have not qualified for the discount or free delivery.

This creates unnecessary confusion and a poor customer experience.

We would therefore like an additional configuration option allowing store owners to choose whether promotional qualifying thresholds are calculated against:

• Cart value excluding tax/VAT, or
• Final cart value including tax/VAT

This should apply consistently across percentage coupons, fixed-value vouchers, promotional spend thresholds and free-delivery thresholds.

We are not asking DecoNetwork to change the way tax itself is calculated. We are asking for the ability to use the customer-facing, VAT-inclusive cart value as the qualifying spend for a promotion.

For UK consumer-facing ecommerce, we believe this would make promotional offers much clearer and more intuitive. It would also allow us to advertise straightforward promotions such as “Spend £80 for free delivery” without having to explain to customers that their displayed £80+ basket may not actually qualify because DecoNetwork is assessing a separate pre-VAT value in the background.

Please consider adding this as a configurable option within DecoNetwork's coupon and promotional settings.
