Configurable AND / OR Logic for Blank Product Filter Search

Hi DecoNetwork Team,

We’d like to submit a feature request for the Blank Product Filter search functionality.

At the moment, multi-word searches appear to behave with OR logic. For example:

youth crewneck

may return products that contain either:

• youth
  OR

• crewneck

This can result in products such as Youth Polos, Youth T-Shirts, Adult Crewnecks, etc.

For our use case, we would prefer the search to use AND logic, so:

youth crewneck

would only return products that match both:

youth AND crewneck

However, rather than changing the behaviour globally for everyone, we think the best solution would be to make this configurable directly inside the Blank Product Filter settings.

For example, under the Text Search settings, there could be an option such as:

Search Logic:

• Match ANY keyword (OR)

• Match ALL keywords (AND)

This would allow each DecoNetwork store owner to decide how they want their product search to behave.

Example:

If OR is selected:

youth crewneck

could match:

• Youth Polo

• Youth T-Shirt

• Adult Crewneck

• Youth Crewneck

If AND is selected:

youth crewneck

would match only products containing both keywords, such as:

• Youth Crewneck

• Youth Fleece Crewneck

• Youth Heavyweight Crewneck

The same would apply to more specific searches such as:

gildan youth crewneck

With AND logic, the result would need to match:

Gildan AND Youth AND Crewneck

We believe this would significantly improve product discovery, especially for stores with large product catalogs.

Modern customers often use multiple search terms specifically to narrow down results. When a customer types “youth crewneck”, they usually expect youth crewnecks, not every youth product plus every crewneck product.

A configurable AND / OR option would also preserve the current behaviour for store owners who prefer broader search results.

Ideally, this setting could be added to the Blank Product Filter widget itself, so no custom JavaScript or custom search implementation would be required.

Suggested setting:

Blank Product Filter > Text Search > Keyword Matching

Options:

• Match Any Keyword (OR)

• Match All Keywords (AND)

An optional third mode could also be useful:

• Match Exact Phrase

For example:

"youth crewneck"

would prioritize or require that phrase.

Could you please forward this to the product/development team as a feature request?

We think this would be a very useful improvement for any DecoNetwork store with a larger product catalog.
