Michael Williams DecoNetwork has always supported tracking a purchase event for ecommerce tracking with Google Analytics. DecoNetwork 8.6 adds built-in integration for GA4 and that same purchase event tracking has been carried over to that newer version of Analytics.

Cristofer Cruz do you have a guide for implementing "Ecommerce Tracking" (note the capitalisation)? I don't mean the adding of a UA code (or the upcoming GA4 equivalent), I mean actual Ecommerce Tracking.

True Ecommerce Tracking tracks more than just a "purchase event", it hands over more data so that we can more accurately monitor our marketing activities.

The reason I made this suggestion was because I was told it wasn't possible when I raised a support ticket.

Michael Williams I don't think there is such a thing as "True Ecommerce Tracking". Tracking just the purchase event is ecommerce tracking and will show up in your analytics as such. I understand what you mean however, you simply want the implementation to track all possible events rather than just the purchase event. I will adjust your request description to clarify this point and mark this back into under consideration.

Cristofer Cruz the capital "T" in "True" was just the start of the sentence rather than it being a noun.

But yes, I think you understand me now.

Just in case, links for reference to what I'm talking about

    https://www.hotjar.com/google-analytics/glossary/ecommerce-tracking/

    https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/ga4/ecommerce?client_type=gtag

At present, the information in the example coding of the second link is not shared from Deconetwork to GA. This is what I'm referring to when I say Ecommerce Tracking. We can see "purchase events" already, but it is literally all we see, no values, no product information, etc.

It's infinitely more powerful and would help us grow a lot.

Hey Michael Williams you're not seeing product information or sales values because you're not using the built in Google Analytics integration. You've embedded your own snippet without ecommerce tracking. If you were to use the built-in integration, it would include ecommerce tracking for the purchase event. Just keep in mind the integration available on DecoNetwork 8.5 is the older UA Google Analytics, while the one added to DecoNetwork 8.6 is the newer GA4. Both track purchases via ecommerce tracking.

Cristofer Cruz we have it set up manually at the moment because it's installed via Tag Manager. This was because we had tried switching to GA4 and had to do it that way. However, when we did have UA installed directly, no such data was passed to our Google Analytics account.

How can we upgrade to 8.6?
