The use of Country in address fields

In the Customer Settings, there is an option to designate what fields are shown or not shown to customers throughout the purchase/order process. It gives you the option to hide the Country field, however, if you do this your State field becomes unusable. The State field is dependent on the country field. As a user who only does business in one country, I would like a setting for a default country so that we (or the end customer) doesn't have to choose a country every time an address in input.
