Add a stock option when ordering, for the customer to add this item to back order. At the moment you have the options do nothing, dont allow order to go through. there should be an option for customer to decide if this item goes on back order.

  I think we need this especially right now! Lot of orders are waiting on stock and we are pushing through without those pieces. I think a back order option would help organize everything. We have a good system in place out side of deco but would love to not rely on paper invoices.
