Properly configuring your decoration prices is crucial for ensuring accurate cost calculations and maintaining profitability in your business. Each decoration process has its own set of settings. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to set up and customize decoration pricing for your products. We'll discuss the merits of each option, but for more detailed information, please refer to the DecoNetwork Concepts article, "How Pricing and Commission Works".
Prerequisites
- You must have administrator access to use this feature
To configure decoration pricing:
- Log into your DecoNetwork Website.
- Browse to Admin > Decoration Processes.
- Select Decoration Pricing.
- Configure the settings as required.
Contract Price Level (Premium & Enterprise Levels Only)
Contract price levels are the different tiers of selling prices that you offer your customers. The levels are defined via Admin > Products > Contract Price Levels. (See the Contract Price Levels help article for instructions). All levels that you have defined will appear here. This section allows you to switch between the different price levels to configure the decoration pricing of each level for the decoration processes that you support.
To configure the pricing of a contract price level, select its corresponding radio button.
Pricing Mode
There are two pricing modes you can use for decoration pricing; flat pricing or advanced pricing.
Flat Pricing
Choose Flat Pricing if you want a simple, consistent pricing mode. Flat pricing will set a flat fee for all processes at all times using one single price, as set in the flat pricing box.
Advanced Pricing
If you want more flexibility in pricing, select Advanced Pricing, which will reveal configuration options for each supported decoration process - DTG Printing, Sublimation, Embroidery, Screen Printing, Transfer, Rhinestone Template, DTF Printing, and UV Printing.
Pricing Methods - Common Options
With advanced pricing enabled, each decoration process gets its own configurable pricing method. Each method has a number of pricing options. Some pricing options are unique to the process, for example, stitch count is embroidery specific. Most options, however, are common to all decoration processes and they are discussed here.
- Single Price is the fee you set for the use of the decoration process. The fee is applied to each decoration area. For example, if you set a price of $5, and the product is decorated in 2 decoration areas, the decoration total price comes to $10. The price does not take into consideration the size or colors of the decoration or product. It is, in effect, a flat price on a per decoration area basis.
- White/light/dark price works much the same way as the single price in that the prices set will be applied each time the decoration process is used on a product. However, it does have the distinction of applying a different price based on the color type of the product. Prices are set for applying the decoration to a white, a light, or a dark product. The colors of a product are defined in the product configuration page of the product in the Colors section. The assigned color type (white/light/dark) can also be reassigned there.
-
Area Pricing Single moves away from a flat price per decoration area used and instead uses pricing based on the amount of decoration applied per square unit of measurement. Using this option, you can set the price per square unit of measurement, and also set a minimum price for the process being used. The minimum price is applied when it is more than the price calculated for the area used. The minimum price is applied per decoration area used. Additionally, you have the choice of determining how the decorated area is calculated:
- Calculate from actual graphic size calculates the actual space covered by the graphic in the decoration.
- Calculate from bounding box of graphic calculates the area of the rectangle enclosing the graphic at its largest X and Y dimensions.
- Area Pricing White/Light/Dark is a combination of the previous two price calculations. Pricing is area-based like Area Pricing Single, but also product color-based. You must set the price per product color type, the minimum price, and the graphics area calculation (actual or bounding box), in the same way as previous pricing methods.
-
Price tables offer the most sophisticated method of calculating price. The Price Table drop-down box lets you select price tables you have already configured. If the existing price tables are not suitable, you can create a new one by clicking Add Price Table.
If no tables have been configured, the message, "You have no tables defined. Click here to create a price table." is displayed. Clicking on the link lets you configure one immediately.
Further discussion about Price Tables is covered in the price table articles which are specific to the decoration process that is using the table.
Unique Decoration Process Options
As mentioned above, some pricing methods have pricing options that are unique to the decoration process. Some decoration methods also have options in addition to the pricing method options. They are described here.
Embroidery
Approx stitches per sq cm is a unique setting for the Embroidery decoration process. It lets you specify an estimated stitch density per square inch of an embroidery design. This is used to calculate the estimated stitch count for an uploaded artwork that needs to be digitized. The stitch count is then used to calculate the price if Price Table is used as the pricing method.
Default stitch count is a unique setting for the Price Table pricing method for embroidery. It lets you specify an average stitch count for an embroidery design. This is used to calculate the default display price for an embroidery decoration in the product listing and in the Designer prior to adding a design if the product is using a price table against the decoration area. Once a design is added, the price is re-calculated based on the estimated stitch count if a raster or vector artwork is uploaded and based on the actual stitch count if an embroidery design is uploaded.
Determine price table quantity break using all placements of the same uploaded design file allows price table quantity breaks to be combined based on the number of decoration areas using the same uploaded embroidery design.
Screen Printing
Charge setup fee is an additional option for the Screen Printing decoration process. It lets you choose whether or not a fee will be charged for setting up screens used to produce a screen print design.
Fee per screen is the fee you specify for setting up of each screen used to produce a screen print design.
Charge a screen setup fee for white base lets you choose whether or not you want to charge a screen setup fee if a white base is required to produce a screen print design. Leaving this checkbox unticked will charge a screen setup fee for all colors except the white base.
- Click Save when done.
