DecoNetwork lets you use your existing domain name under which to run your stores. This article covers the configuration screens to do this and details changes you will need to arrange via your DNS provider to make it happen. You may also disable stores' ability to use DecoNetwork domain names and add free wildcard SSL certifications to your custom domains.
Prerequisites
- You must have administrator access to use this feature
In this article, you will learn how...
To Configure Domain Names Used in your Stores:
- Log into your DecoNetwork Website.
- Browse to Admin > Websites > Global Store Subdomains.
The Global Store Subdomains page will load. Any previously added custom domains will be listed here.
- Configure the store subdomain settings.
DecoNetwork Domains
The Allow DecoNetwork domains checkbox, when ticked, will make DecoNetwork's store domain names available. This will be in addition to any other name that you make available yourself.
Custom Domains
-
DNS Record for global subdomains (wildcard):
When setting up a global store domain for your affiliate stores, you'll need to add a single wildcard DNS record (typically done by setting an asterisk as the hostname).
You would need the following DNS record:
Record Type Hostname Value (Points-to) CNAME * dns.deco-apparel.com - Click Add Domain to make additional custom domain names, which you control, available to your stores.
- Enter the custom domain in the Domain Name field.
Do not add www or any other prefix to the domain name. These domain names will be used by stores in the format of (storename).(yourdomainname).(extension). For example mystore.fulfilmentcentre.com.
- Click Save to add the domain to the list.
- Click on the Verify Domains button to verify any unverified domains.
If you have correctly configured your DNS settings to point to DecoNetwork, the status for the custom domain will show as "Valid".
If you have correctly configured your DNS settings to point to DecoNetwork, the Verified status for the custom domain will be updated from "[NOT VERIFIED YET]" to "[OK]".
-
- Click Save when done.
To install a free wildcard SSL certificate:
- Log into your DecoNetwork Website.
- Browse to Admin > Websites > Global Store Subdomains.
- Click the SSL button for your custom domain.
The SSL setup page will be displayed.
- Before requesting a wildcard certificate, you must add a CNAME record to your domains DNS records to prove ownership of the domain name.
DNS Record to validate wildcard SSL:
Record Type Hostname Value (Points-to) CNAME _acme-challenge Unique address shown on your Setup SSL page
(see screenshot below for example) - Once your acme_challenge DNS record is in place, click on the Request Free Wildcard Certificate button.
If you get a deployment error, make the necessary corrections and request the certificate again later.
- Save.
If the wildcard SSL certificate has been added successfully, the SSL Status for the custom domain will be updated from "[Not Requested]" to "[SSL Certificate deployed]".
