How to Change the DecoPay Credit Card Statement Descriptor Prefix

A critical part of maintaining a professional business image is ensuring that your credit card statements are clear to your customers. A clear credit card payment descriptor prefix that references your business or brand is crucial because it helps customers quickly identify transactions on their credit card statements. This clarity reduces confusion, prevents chargebacks due to unrecognized charges, and enhances customer trust in your business. This guide will help you change the DecoPay credit card statement descriptor prefix.

Prerequisites

• You must have administrator access to use this feature

To change the DecoPay credit card statement descriptor prefix:

1. Log into your DecoNetwork Website.
2. Browse to Admin > Settings.
3. Select Payment Methods.

   

   

   The Payment Methods page will be displayed.

4. Click on the Configure DecoPay button.

   The DecoPay configuration page will be displayed.

5. Click on Credit Cards from the sub-menu.
   

   The configuration settings for credit cards will be displayed.

6. Scroll to the Statement Prefix section.
   

   By default, the prefix is the first 10 characters of the business name for your Fulfillment Center.

7. Tick the Override default checkbox to change the prefix.
8. Enter a new prefix in the Statement descriptor prefix field.
9. Click Save.

   The statement descriptor prefix is global, meaning it cannot be changed or overridden on a per-store basis. The changes you make will apply to all transactions processed through DecoPay across your affiliate network.
