Prerequisites
- You must be logged into your customer account in the storefront.
- To enable MFA, you must have an authenticator app installed (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy).
- Some stores may require MFA and may not allow customers to disable it.
Why enable MFA
Multi-Factor Authentication adds an additional layer of protection to your account by requiring a time-based 6-digit code from an authenticator app in addition to your regular login details. Enabling MFA helps:
- Prevent unauthorized access if your password is compromised
- Protect personal information, saved addresses, and past orders
- Provide peace of mind when accessing your account from shared devices
Step 1: How to enable MFA on your account
- Log in to your customer account on the store website.
-
Click on My Account at the top right of the screen.
-
In the "Profile" tab, click Edit beside "Account Details" at the right of the screen.
The Account Details popup is displayed.
-
Tick the “Require multi-factor authentication when logging in” checkbox.
-
Click OK to apply the change.
MFA will be required every time you log in from now on.
Step 2: How to disable MFA on your account
- Log in to your customer account on the store website.
- Click on My Account at the top right of the screen.
- In the "Profile" tab, click Edit beside "Account Details" at the right of the screen.
- Untick the “Require multi-factor authentication when logging in” checkbox.
-
Click OK to apply the change.
⚠️ Disabling MFA removes the extra security layer and allows login using only your email and password.
Best-Practice Tips
- Use the same authenticator app across all accounts to simplify managing codes.
- If available in your authenticator app, enable cloud backup or device sync to avoid losing access if your phone is replaced.
- Avoid disabling MFA unless necessary – especially if your account includes saved payment methods or stored customer data.
- Log out of shared or public computers after each session to protect your account.
Troubleshooting
-
I’m entering the correct code, but it says it’s invalid.
Ensure your device time is set to automatic. Time drift causes authenticator codes to fail. -
I no longer have my phone or authenticator app.
Use the store’s MFA reset process. See: How to Reset MFA Setup for a Customer Account. -
I can’t find the MFA option in my Account Details.
The store operator may have disabled customer controls or enforced MFA. -
I'm stuck in a loop asking for a code.
Clear your browser cache or try a private window. A stale session may be interfering.
FAQs
Can the store force MFA for all customers?
Yes. If the store operator enforces MFA, customers cannot disable it.
Do I need MFA for every login?
Yes. After enabling MFA, you will enter a 6-digit code each time you log in.
Can I use SMS instead of an authenticator app?
No. DecoNetwork currently supports app-based time-based one-time codes (TOTP).
What happens if I disable MFA?
You will log in using only your email and password, without the additional security check.
Can I switch authenticator apps later?
Yes. Disable MFA, then re-enable it using your new authenticator app.
Notes
- If you lose access to your Authenticator app, you can reset your MFA setup.
- Not all stores may allow customers to disable MFA if it has been required by the store operator.
