Prerequisites
- DecoNetwork Admin access.
- An active ShipStation account and ability to generate API Key & Secret.
- (Recommended) Carrier accounts (UPS/USPS/FedEx) configured in ShipStation for live rates.
- Decide which shipping methods to offer and any handling markup or free-shipping thresholds.
- (If offering pickup) A pickup-ready email template (location, hours, address) to assign to the method.
- DecoNetwork store URL and admin credentials for connecting ShipStation’s Custom Store.
Why Configure Shipping Methods?
Before processing orders, you must set up how customer orders will be delivered: via carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS) or customer pickup. Proper configuration ensures accurate shipping charges, quotes, and customer communication.

Step 1: Enable Live Shipping Rates via ShipStation

In ShipStation:
- Navigate to Account → API Settings and generate a V1 API Key (valid for 12 months).
- Copy both the API Key and Secret Key.

In DecoNetwork:
- Go to Admin → Settings → Shipping Methods.
- Click Add Live Shipping Carrier and select ShipStation.
- Paste in the API Key and Secret Key.
- Click Save to enable live rate calculations.

Step 2: Configure Shipping Methods
Once ShipStation is linked, select which carrier services to offer to customers.
- Click the Choose Methods button next to ShipStation.
- Select services like USPS First Class, Priority Mail, UPS Ground, UPS Next Day, etc.
- Save your selections.
- Reorder methods by dragging—for example, cheapest first, fastest last.

Step 3: Customize Each Shipping Method
- Edit each method to set:
- Maximum delivery time (e.g., 4 days)
- Percentage markup (10–20% to cover handling)
- Free shipping threshold (e.g., free UPS Ground over $200)
- Availability settings (limit by store or region)

Step 4: Add Custom Shipping Methods (e.g., Customer Pickup)
- Click Add Custom Shipping Method.
- Name it (e.g. “Customer Pickup”), set price (usually $0), and specify availability.
- Select or create an email template for this method.
- Save the new method.

Step 5: Configure Pickup Email Template
For pickup methods, use a tailored email instead of “Order Shipped.”
- Go to Settings → Email & Order Templates → Email Templates.
- Click on the New Order Email button in the Web Store Order Emails section;
- Create a template like “Pickup Ready” with:
- Subject: “Your Order is Ready for Pickup”
- Body: Include pickup location, hours, and address.
- Assign this template to the pickup shipping method.

Step 6: Connect ShipStation for Order Processing
- In ShipStation, go to Selling Channels → Connect a Store.
- Select Custom Store, and enter your DecoNetwork store URL from the Ship Order Sync section.
- Enter your DecoNetwork admin username and password.
- Prefix all statuses with
SS_(e.g. SS_Shipped). - Test the connection, ensure all lights are green, and click Connect.

Step 7: Process Orders in ShipStation
- Search by order number once synced.
- Enter final package dimensions and weight.
- Select or confirm shipping method; compare rates and delivery times.
- Use preset configurations for faster processing.
