reCAPTCHA protection is automatically enabled on every Contact Form Widget to help keep spam and bots out of your inbox. There is nothing to turn on, and this protection can no longer be turned off.

Why this matters
Contact forms are a common target for automated spam and phishing bots. reCAPTCHA analyzes how a visitor interacts with your page, using signals like mouse movement and browsing behavior to tell human visitors apart from bots, and blocks most of that spam before it ever reaches your inbox.
This protection is now applied consistently across every contact form on every site, rather than being something each store owner had to remember to turn on individually.
What your visitors will see
Most of the time, reCAPTCHA works invisibly in the background. Your visitors won't see a checkbox, an image challenge, or any extra step. They'll fill out the form and submit it exactly as before.
On the rare occasion reCAPTCHA can't automatically verify a visitor, they may be shown a simple "I'm not a robot" checkbox to tick before their message can be sent.
FAQs
Can I turn reCAPTCHA off for my contact form?
No. reCAPTCHA is required on all contact forms and there is no setting to disable it.
Do I need to change anything on forms I've already published?
No action is required. reCAPTCHA protection applies automatically to existing contact forms as well as new ones.
Why did the "Show Captcha" checkbox disappear from my form settings?
This checkbox was removed because reCAPTCHA is now always on. It isn't a bug: the setting no longer exists because there's nothing left to configure.
Does this affect my Request a Quote form too?
No. The Request a Quote form has its own separate Show Captcha setting, which is unchanged and still optional. This change only applies to the Contact Form Widget.
