When a customer tries to check out with less than the required minimum quantity of a design, DecoNetwork blocks checkout and shows a minimum quantity warning. This article explains what the message means, how to resolve it by combining quantities across colors and sizes, and why quantities from different designs don't combine toward each other's minimums.

Prerequisites
- No account or special access is required. This applies to any DecoNetwork-powered store where a product or decoration process has a minimum quantity configured.
Why you might see this message
Some products and decoration processes (for example, Screen Printing or Embroidery) have setup costs that only make sense above a certain order size. To protect against uneconomic small runs, stores can set a minimum quantity on a product and on a decoration process. Rather than blocking you the moment you add a single item below that minimum, DecoNetwork lets you build up your order first, then checks the combined quantity when you proceed to checkout. This warning is what you see when that combined quantity still falls short.
Step 1: Read what the message is telling you
When you try to proceed to checkout, you may see a message similar to:
The exact wording depends on whether the shortfall is on a product's minimum quantity or a decoration process's minimum quantity, and it will identify which design or product the shortfall applies to. If more than one design or product in your cart is short, the message will list each one.

Step 2: Combine quantities of the same design to reach the minimum
The fix is usually simple: add more of the same design to your cart until the combined quantity reaches the minimum. It doesn't need to be the same color, size, or style. For example, if a design's decoration process has a minimum of 36 units, you can reach that minimum with any mix that adds up to 36, such as 12 small, 12 medium, and 12 large, or 20 in one color and 16 in another. All cart lines using that same design count toward the same minimum.
Step 3: Proceed to checkout again
Once you've adjusted quantities so every design and product in your cart meets its minimum, proceed to checkout again. The warning will only reappear if a minimum is still unmet.
Best-practice tips
- Check the combined total, not each line: A single color or size can look short of the minimum on its own, but still be fine once combined with other variants of the same design.
- Remember different designs don't combine: Adding units of a second, unrelated design won't help the first design reach its minimum. Each unique design is checked against the minimum on its own.
- Watch for two separate minimums: A product can have its own minimum quantity, and the decoration process used on it can have a separate minimum quantity. Both are checked at checkout, so resolving one doesn't guarantee the other is met.
Troubleshooting
The warning still appears after adding more of the same design
Cause: The added quantity may have gone toward a different design, color, or product than the one named in the warning, or the decoration process minimum (rather than the product minimum) is still unmet.
Solution: Re-check the specific design or product named in the message, and confirm the combined quantity across every cart line using that exact design meets the minimum.
Combining two different designs didn't resolve the warning
Cause: This is expected. Quantities from different designs are checked against the minimum separately and don't combine with each other.
Solution: Increase the quantity of each individual design until it independently meets the minimum.
FAQs
Can I mix colors and sizes to reach the minimum quantity?
Yes, as long as they're the same design. Every cart line using that design, regardless of color, size, or other variant, is combined and checked against the minimum at checkout.
Do quantities from two different designs combine toward the same minimum?
No. Each unique design is checked against the minimum on its own. Ordering 6 of one design and 6 of a different design won't satisfy a minimum of 12 for either one.
Why wasn't I blocked when I first added the item to my cart?
Minimum quantities are checked when you proceed to checkout, not the moment an item is added to the cart. This lets you build up an order across multiple colors or sizes before the minimum is checked.
What if I see two different warnings in the same order?
A product minimum and a decoration process minimum are checked separately. If your order falls short on both, you'll see both identified so you know what to adjust for each.
